North Carolina Laws was conceived from a need for animal, law and humane officers to have immediate accessibility to animal law related to their field. Originally developed for the animal control field in an effort to provide officers, legal advisors and public health officials with an economical and efficient access to the laws specific to their professions, it is now widely used by humane societies, educators, local police and Sheriff’s departments as these agencies work more closely together in various health and animal situations. North Carolina Laws, in use since 1995, is utilized by North Carolina’s 100 counties in courtrooms, legal offices, animal and health facilities and classrooms providing the only regularly updated, comprehensive and portable collection of applicable animal related laws. North Carolina Laws strives to save counties, cities and organizations countless hours in research and financing while freeing up officers and agents to better provide professional services to their communities. A new website was launched in 2015 in an effort to better support our animal service and welfare professionals in locating resources, legislative information and interacting with colleagues. Animal Services is a specialized, comprehensive and unique profession, it's officers, members, the citizens and animals they serve benefit from support and positive interactions.
