Welcome to Animal Control - A Learning Process, an introductory academic course developed to provide the entry level animal control officer in North Carolina an overview of the basic essential components of animal law, regulations, processes and resources to increase confidence, self reliance and credibility.
There is much public attention focused on the animal shelter and the care of the animals. While this is a worthwhile and positive change from years past, little energy has been dedicated to the support and advancement of the field animal control officer.
Training and instruction for the animal officer in North Carolina is sporadic, subject specific and most times requires travel and expenses of which many agencies have little to spare. Animal Control - A Learning Process offers the opportunity for officers to learn about a broad range of subjects at their own pace over a 2 week period coupled with the ability to apply this new knowledge immediately.
The course follows the format of the state law manual, NC Laws for Animal Control and integrates local ordinances allowing for improved comprehension, interpretation and immediate application.
Each section in this course is focused on providing simple, straightforward introductory information and clarification of commonly used legal and animal-related terminology.
